• The main difference between Marine Grade Stainless Steel and the Acrylic are:
  
  o Both suitable for Chlorinated & Salt Water use
  o Acrylic cannot expose to direct sunlight - more suitable for block wall set up eg. Besser block, brickworks
  o Marine Grade Stainless Steel has a 35mm lip with larger opening( able to add extension lip to 150mm )- Acrylic has 25,40,125 & 135mm lip but smaller opening.
  o Marine Grade Stainless Steel will provide a greater volume of water for the projecting sheet but projects lesser distance away from the wall. Acrylic can project further due to smaller lip opening but thinner projecting sheet hence will break off easier depending on the wind conditions.
  o Marine Stainless Steel only have bottom inlets
  o Acrylic has both bottom and back inlets with different lip size
  
  Both have it's pros and cons, it mainly depends on how you build the wall.

• Types of Spillway Effects

  • Cascade/Wall Wash - This is achieved where water flows softly from the spillway and cascades down the wall face into a pond or reservoir. A minimum flow rate of 50-60 Litres per minute (l/min) at the height of the spillway per metre of spillway length. 
     
  • Projecting Curtain Sheet – This is achieved where a large volume of water passes through the spillway, producing a solid sheet of water that projects away from the wall. A minimum flow rate of 230 litres per minute (l/min) at the height of the spillway per metre of spillway length and the spillway installed no higher than 900mm from water level. Note - the further the water drops, the narrower the water sheet widths become due to surface tension. It’ll project between 80mm-200mm away from the lip – the final result depends on external factors, e.g. plumping, location and pump capacity.
